During the 2015 legislative session, lawmakers passed SB 15-223 which gives parents the right to refuse to have their children take the state standardized tests CMAS, PARCC and the ACT without any negative consequences to the student, teacher or school.
The Cherry Creek School District has created a form for parents which can be found on the district's website. If you will be exempting your student from testing, please complete this form at least two weeks prior to testing so that the school can develop its assessment schedule.
The new law only applies to the state mandated tests CMAS and PARCC and the ACT and does not apply to other tests given in the classroom as part of the course work.
